Bruno was travelling in Indiana, PA to visit friends. A riot broke out between police and citizens protesting the United States' entry into World War 1. Bruno was shot and killed by an apparently stray bullet. Joe frequently mentioned that he wished he knew where his father was buried, but was never successful in determining the location.
